Troubleshooting plan. I can run it without the beater (or without the bowl) and then will be able to see if it's the motor moaning, or if the beater holder thingie is set too low and is rubbing the inside of the bowl.
Quick check of the owner's manual says that the beater to bowl clearance can be adjusted with the turn of a screw. Nice!
